This is a list of database companies that I'm excited about:
- **Turso** - Essentially a sqlite (an embedded oltp engine) service... which feels weird to say, but they have a super cool approach to it + it enables the idea of a database per customer / tenant.
- **DuckDB / MotherDuck** - In the same vein as sqlite, but for OLAP. Motherduck is cool in that it feels a lot simpler than the standard OLAP setup (esp the big data ones), which always feels like a Rube Goldberg machine.
- **Supabase** - It's postgresql, it's cheap auth, oh and they do some backend type stuff around it as well. Oh they love OSS as well. Plus importantly a bunch of other people love them...
If your company is not on this list, I'm not excited about it. Doesn't mean it's bad tho...
